Mens Saturday Wrap-up 10/12

Two Red hosted Safety Bay on a pleasant afternoon on A green.  The Safety Bay team psyched themselves up before the game but to no avail.  The only danger early was from Rink 2 when one of their stars, Sue G drew shot on rink 3 while rolling up on rink 2.  An obviously ploy as their rink were 24-0 at one stage.

Craig Stevens, Terry Norrish (I’ve played in every team) Norrish, Phil Gillespie and Alby Chapelhow had a great tussle against their opponents and were right in the game until the jack was trailed from 2 up to 2 down round about the 17th end.  The boys didn’t recover and went down 16-21.  Everyone played well but Alby looked like he had a cracker as his bowls were there or thereabouts all afternoon.

Greg Ginby, ably assisted by Chris (I look good in my new shirt) Woodroff, Mark Matthews and Brian Clare led for a while and then had a spell before getting back on track to win 20-16.  Very solid performance and it is good to see the boys back in the winner’s circle.

Mike Carey, Steve (Sorry) Lambert, Lindsay Brown and the Club’s improving lead Dave Nester were in front all day.  There was a call of welcome back after a small lapse and everyone contributed but I have been informed by the boys that Mike played a couple of bombs which were telling and demoralised the Safety Bay team.  The overall result was a win 28-13.

Jim (see I can smile) Drake-Brockman, Alan Booth, Richard Pears and Little Joe had another tough game against Safety Bay’s top rink. The front end was solid all day, especially Richard who had another great game, the third contributed during the pressure moments (sometimes) and Jim played some absolute crackers that Division One Red players would be proud of to get over the line 18-17.

Two Red won the day 7-1 (82-65) which now puts them in 6th position on the ladder 7 points in front of the next side. The final game is against Spearwood at Spearwood next week, who are 4.5 points in front.
