Premier 1

Hosted North Beach and a very well prepared D Green and a flukey breeze which made for a difficult day, at least for some teams.  Kristina and her rink, Rechelle Cole, Shari Solly and Toni Maddigan made light work of the conditions and their opposition.  The rink was in front all day and eventually ran out winners 41-10 an unbelievable score at this level.  They also got the POTS for the day.

Therese Hasting’s rink also had a good day being in front all day and being comfortable 27-13 winners (normally good enough to win the pots).  The ladies were solid across the rink and at one stage were around 15 nil up before the North Beach team got a one.

Helen Morss and here rink had a tough day against good opposition.  A lot of good bowls played and a lot of great saves by both skips saw the game level at 11 all before Helen’s team hit their straps to finish 21-11.

Overall result was a 6-0 89/34 which leaves the ladies in top spot.

Premier 2

Headed to Thornlie on a beautiful not too hot day to play on their B Green Carpet with some swirly wind conditions to make it a little more interesting.

Karina Gale’s team of Elle Ariael, Sally Wilkie and Sue Barrow come out of the gates fairly strong and kept their comfortable lead with the end score for that rink being 29 – 16 and holding the aggregate.

Shaan Saunder’s team of Sue Hogg,  Heather Williams and Toni Gatti had a slower start with Thornlie’s Lead and Second on that rink absolutely playing superb bowls which made it difficult to obtain the lead however they did come back stronger and closed the gap to only be 5 down 17-22.

Greeta Hartland’s team of Amanda Masters, Sandy Ker, Glenys Carter ended up having a nail biter going into the last end being one shot down and the aggregate close.  With Greeta keeping that in mind and utilizing our coach Ron Ker played a conservative shot to only go down by one additional shot 18-20 to keep the aggregate safe giving Manning the 4 pts they needed to get them to 4th place on the ladder.

Overall result 64/58 Manning 4pts Thornlie 2 pts.
A good win to secure away from Manning with some great bowls played across all rinks.

One Green South

The One Green South side hosted top of the ladder and undefeated Safety Bay One side.  The ladies played great bowls all day taking out the game 6-0 and scoring an 83-39 victory lifting them to 1.5 points behind the leaders.

Wendy Dolton’s rink were in front all day giving the opposition few chances and getting up 28-11.  All the Manning ladies contributed leaving little for Wendy to do, but to save occasionally.

Viv Thompson’s rink started slowly but gained momentum as the game went on.  At one stage the rink was behind then levelled up and then kicked away to win 28-11.  Again everyone contributed but Viv played a number of outstanding bowls under pressure to keep the momentum going.

Sue Griffith returned after visiting Melbourne and led her rink to a 28-11 victory.  The girls were in front all day and at one stage looked like challenging Kristina for the pots but a lapse in concentration allowed the Safety Bay Ladies to get a few closer and closed the gap.  One memorable bowl from Sue was perfectly weighted to draw shot on the adjoining green (little ring to the inside Sue).
